Studio Policies
Classes:
Classes must have a minimum enrollment of 6 dancers or they may be canceled. We will make every effort to maintain the class times as listed on the schedule, however there is a possibility that some class times could change.
Payment:
Payments are due the first lesson of each month. Dance tuition is an annual fee which is payable monthly. The monthly amount remains the same regardless of the number of lessons in a calendar month. There are no refunds given for missed lessons. Call to see whether make-up classes are available. Tuition, registration, and costume fees are non-refundable. A $10 late fee will be applied to all account balances that are not paid by the 15th of each month.
The preferred form of payment is by personal check made out to Tara’s Academy of Dance. Cash, debit cards, and certain credit cards are also acceptable. There is a $25 service charge on all returned checks.
Class Attire:
Students must be dressed appropriately for dance class. For combo and regular classes, ages 9 and under, black leotards and pink tights (offered at studio) are required. Ages 10 and older may wear dance pants or dance shorts, and a dance top (offered at studio) over black leotards and pink tights (except for all Ballet classes). Hip-Hop classes may wear any type of dance attire (offered at studio) as long as it is approved. No oversized clothing.
Proper dance shoes are required. All shoes must be labeled with the dancer’s full name inside. Bring all labeled shoes with you to every class, and carry them in a dance bag.
Hair should be secured in a ponytail or bun.
Jewelry other than starter-stud earrings are not allowed.
Dance Days:
Please arrive 5 minutes before your class begins. For classes that begin at 3:15, we ask that you do not come into the building or be dropped off before 3:00. Our staff may be in the building before that time, however, they are busy preparing for the evening and will not be available until 3:15.
Parent viewing days will be scheduled approximately every four weeks. Observation windows will remain closed until scheduled viewing days. Young children must be supervised by a parent at all times in the waiting area. Young dancers should use the restroom before class. If a dancer needs to leave class early, a parent must come into the building to pick him/her up. For the safety of all dancers, we will not allow them to leave the building unattended.
Please pick up your child at the end of class time. Once the class is excused, Tara’s Dance Academy is not responsible.
Food & Beverages:
Food, beverages and chewing gum are not allowed in the dance rooms. We will have snacks and drinks available for sale at the front desk.
Costumes:
A measurement form will be issued to all dancers in October. These forms must be filled out by each dancer’s parent, and returned to the studio by October 19th. Costumes are only ordered for those dancers who have paid the deposits. An invoice will be distributed for the balance amount in February. Costumes are ordered in the Fall, and are typically received in March and April. Costume deposits are non-refundable.
Dance Shoes:
All dancers must have the appropriate shoe style and color for picture day and the Spring Recital. If you have a different shoe style or color for the beginning of the year, this is fine. Once your child grows out of his/her shoes, you will need to purchase the correct style.
The following shoes are required for these classes:*
Tap Shoes:
Check your tap shoes and keep a small screwdriver in your dance bag to tighten taps when needed. A loose screw can tear our dance floor.
Picture Day:
Class and individual pictures are held in the Spring at the studio. Our photographer is great, and most everyone has been very happy with the quality and service. If you decide not to purchase any pictures, we ask that you still attend picture day so we may have the entire class in the photo.
Hair & Make-Up:
We will hand out instructions for costume hair and make-up before picture day.
Recital:
